The Moon

First Quarter occurs on 4th at h. 23-09 I.S.T.

Full Moon occurs on 12th at h. 14-57 I.S.T.

Last Quarter occurs on 20th at h. 19-09 I.S.T.

New Moon occurs on 27th at h. 16-39 I.S.T.

   

The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 29th.

The Moon is at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 15th and at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 28th.

The Moon passes about 7½º south of Saturn on 1st, about 5½º north of Neptune after the midnight of 10th i.e on 11th, about 6º north of Uranus before midnight of 13th, about 4½º north of Jupiter before midnight of 16th, about 5º south of Mars on 23rd, about 7º south of Mercury on 27th, about 6º south of Venus and 7º south of Saturn on 28th.

The Earth

The Earth is at the Autumnal Equinox on 23rd.

The Planets

The Visibility of Planets :

Mercury: The planet rises before sunrise and remains visible till beginning of morning twilight upto 17th of the month. It rises about 1½ hours to 1 hour before sunrise during that period. Thereafter it becomes too close to the Sun to be visible for the remaining days of the month, being in Superior Conjunction on 29th. The planet is in Greatest Western Elongation of about 18º from the Sun on 3rd. It approaches the Perihelion position in its orbit or reaches nearest to the Sun on 8th

Venus: The planet remains too close to the sun to be visible upto 11th of the month and it reappears in the western sky after sunset on 12th. It sets about ½ hour after sunset for the remaining days of the month.

Mars: The planet rises after local midnight and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight. It rises about 1½ hours to 1 hour after local midnight throughout the month.

Jupiter: The planet rises few hours after sunset and remains visible till the beginning of the morning twilight. It rises about 3 hours to 2½ hours after it upto second quarter of the month, about 2½ hours to 2 hours after it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 1½ hours after it for the remaining days of the month.

Saturn: It is visible in the evening in the western sky upto 25th of the month. It sets about 2 hours to 1½ hours after sunset upto second quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 1 hour after it upto 25 th . Thereafter it becomes too close to the Sun to be visible for the remaining days of the month. .

Uranus: The planet rises about 1 hour to ½ hour after sunset upto second quarter of the month, about ½ hour to close to sunset time upto third quarter of the month. Thereafter it sets near sunrise time for the remaining days of the month, being in Opposition with the Sun on 26th.

Neptune: The planet sets before sunrise throughout the month. It sets about ½ hour to 1 hour before sunrise upto first quarter of the month, about 1 hour to 1½ hours before it upto second quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 2½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month.

Conjunction of Planets :

Mercury passes about 1º north of Regulus (Magha) on 9th.

Mars passes 6º south of Pollux (Punarvasu) on 10th.

Venus passes about 1½ º south of Saturn on 30th.
