The Moon

Full Moon occurs on 4th at h. 21-33 I.S.T.

Last Quarter occurs on 12th at h. 07-46 I.S.T.

New Moon occurs on 19th at h. 00-14 I.S.T.

First Quarter occurs on 26th at h. 10-20 I.S.T.

   

The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 19th.

The Moon is at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 16th and at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 28th .

The Moon passes about 3º north of Jupiter in the early hours of 3rd and about 3º north of Neptune on 3rd, about 5½º north of Uranus in the early hours of 6th, about 1º north of Mars on 13th, about 3½º south of Venus on 16th, about 7º south of Saturn and about 1º south of Mercury on 19th, 3º north of Jupiter and about 3º north of Neptune in the evening of 30th.

The Earth

The Earth is at the Autumnal Equinox on 23rd.

The Planets

The Visibility of Planets :

Mercury: The planet is visible low in the western sky after sunset upto 1st quarter of the month. Thereafter the planet is too near the Sun to be visible upto third quarter of the month, being in Inferior Conjunction on 20th. Thereafter it reappears in the eastern sky on 26th and rises about 1 hour before sunrise and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Retrograde and Direct with respect to the Earth on 7th and 29th respectively.

Venus: It is a brilliant object, can be seen in the eastern sky before sunrise and remains visible till the beginning of the morning twilight. It rises about 2½ hours to 2 hours before sunrise during the month.

Mars: The planet rises in the eastern sky around local midnight and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight throughout the month. It rises about ½ hour after local midnight to very close to local midnight time throughout the month.

Jupiter: The planet can be seen in the evening towards the eastern sky after sunset throughout the month. It sets about 1½ hours to 2½ hours before sunrise during first quarter of the month, about 2½ hours to 3 hours before it upto third quarter of the month. Thereafter it sets about 2½ hours to 2 hours after local midnight for the remaining days of the month.

Saturn: The planet is too near the Sun to be visible throughout the month, being in conjunction with the Sun on 17th. Thereafter it reappears at the end of the month on 30th.

Uranus: The planet can be seen low in the eastern sky after sunset and remains visible till the beginning of the morning twilight. It rises about 1 hour to ½ hour after sunset upto first quarter of the month. Thereafter it rises around sunset time and sets around sunrise time upto third quarter of the month, being in Opposition with the Sun on 17th. The planet rises about ½ hour before sunset for the remaining days of the month.

Neptune: The planet can be seen towards the eastern sky after sunset throughout the month and sets about 1 hour to 1½ hours before sunrise during first quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it upto second quarter of the month, about 2 hours to 2½ hours before it upto third quarter of the month. Thereafter it sets about 2½ hours after local midnight for the remaining days of the month.

Conjunction of Planets :

Venus passes about ½º north Regulus (Magha) on 20th.

Mercury passes about 5½º south of Saturn on 20th.
