The Moon

New Moon occurs on 1st at h. 14-24 I.S.T.

First Quarter occurs on 8th at h. 11-59 I.S.T.

Full Moon occurs on 15th at h. 12-10 I.S.T.

Last Quarter occurs on 23rd at h. 10-32 I.S.T.

New Moon occurs on 31 st at h. 00-10 I.S.T.

 

The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 2nd.

The Moon is at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 7th and at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 22nd .

The Moon passes about 5º south of Mercury on 3rd, about 8º south of Saturn on 8th, about 6º north of Neptune on 18th, about 6º north of Uranus on 21st, about 5º north of Jupiter on 24th, ½º south of Mars on 27th and about 4½º south of Venus on 30th.

The Earth

The Earth approaches Aphelion position in its orbit or reaches farthest from the Sun on 4th.

Eclipse

Partial Eclipse of the Sun : The phenomenon will occur on 1st July, 2011. The eclipse begins at 13-24 I.S.T. and ends at 14-53 I.S.T. The eclipse is not visible from India.

The Planets

The Visibility of Planets :

Mercury: The planet sets after sunset throughout the month. It sets about 1½ hours after sunset upto third quarter of the month, Thereafter it sets about 1½ hours to 1 hour after sunset for the remaining days of the month. The planet is in Greatest Eastern Elongation of about 27º from the Sun on 20th. It approaches the Aphelion position in its orbit or reaches farthest from the Sun on 26th.

Venus: The planet is a brilliant object visible in the eastern sky before sunrise and remains visible till the beginning of the morning twilight upto 25th of the month. It rises about 1 hour to ½ hour before sunrise during the period. Thereafter it becomes too close to the Sun to be visible for the remaining days of the month.

Mars: The planet rises after local midnight and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight. It rises about 2½ hours to 2 hours after local midnight throughout the month.

Jupiter: The planet rises about 1 hour to ½ hour after local midnight upto first quarter of the month, about ½ hour after local midnight to around local midnight time upto second quarter of the month, around local midnight time to ½ hour before it upto third quarter of the month and about ½ hour to 1 hour before it for the remaining days of the month.

Saturn: The planet sets before local midnight throughout the month. It sets about ½ hour to 1½ hours before local midnight upto third quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it for the remaining days of the month. The planet is in Quadrature with the Sun on 3rd.

Uranus: The planet rises before local midnight and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight throughout the month. The planet rises about ½ hour to 2 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 3 hours before it for the reaming days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Retrograde with respect to the Earth on 10th.

Neptune: The planet rises after sunset throughout the month and remains visible till the beginning of the morning twilight. It rises abou 3 hours to 2 hours after it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 1 hour after it for the remaining days of the month.

Conjunction of Planets :

Mars passes 5½º north of Aldebaran (Rohini) on 6th.

Venus passes about 6º south of Pollux (Punarvasu) on 24th.
