The Moon

The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 2nd. |

The Moon is at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 11th and at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 26th. |

The Moon passes about 2½º south of Venus in the evening of 2nd, about 4º south of Saturn in the evening of 3rd, 4º south of Mars on 4th , about 3º south of Jupiter in the evening of 13th, about 1º north of Neptune after local midnight of 16th i.e. on 17th and about 4º north of Uranus on 19th.
Eclipse
Total Eclipse of the Sun : The phenomenon will occur on 1st August, 2008, the partial phase of which will be visible in India. The eclipse begins at h. 13-34 I.S.T. and ends at h. 18-08 I.S.T. The beginning, middle and ending of the partial phase of the eclipse will be visible through out the country.
Partial Eclipse of the Moon: The phenomenon will occur on 17th August, 2008 which will be visible in India. The eclipse begins at h. 01-06 I.S.T. and ends at h. 04-15 I.S.T. The beginning to ending of the partial phase of the eclipse will be visible throughout the country.
The Planets
The Visibility of Planets :
Mercury: The planet can be seen in the evening low in the western sky from the second quarter of the month. It reappears in the western sky and sets about 1 hour to 1½ hours after sunset during the second half of the month.
Venus: It is a brilliant object in the sky and can be seen in the evening low in the western sky throughout the month. The planet sets about 1 hour after sunset throughout the month.
Mars: The planet can be seen in the evening in the western sky throughout the month. It sets about 2 hours to 1½ hours after sunset throughout the month.
Jupiter: The planet can be seen in the evening and remains visible till it sets after local midnight. It sets about 3½ hours to 2½ hours after local midnight upto second quarter of the month. Thereafter it sets between 2½ hours to 1 hour after local midnight for the remaining days of the month.
Saturn: The planet can be seen in the evening low in the western sky upto second quarter of the month. It sets about 1½ hours to 1 hour after sunset upto second quarter of the month. Thereafter it becomes too close to the Sun to be visible for the remaining days of the month, being in conjunction in the beginning of the next month.
Uranus: The planet rises after sunset and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight. It rises about 2½ hours to 1½ hours after sunset upto middle of the month and about 1½ hours to 1 hour after it for the remaining days of the month.
Neptune: The planet rises near to sunset time and remains visible till the beginning of the morning twilight throughout the month. It rises about 1 hour after sunset to near to sunset time upto middle of the month and around sunset time to 1 hour before it for the remaining days of the month, being in Opposition with the Sun on 15th.
